Description: It is traditional to place a sign on the wall in one’s home which faces east, towards Jerusalem in order to show all who enter the direction to face during prayer. Our prayers are directed eastward, to the place of the Temple in Jerusalem, the epicenter of spirituality and “the place of the rising sun.” The meticulous detail echoes the tradition of medieval illumination.
