Title:
The Holy Aron
Size: 70 x 100cm
Medium: Watercolour, charcoal, pastel, ink and acrylic on etching paper
Description: The Aron in the Beit Hamikdash stood within the Holy of Holies. A wooden casing covered in gold, it housed the holy Luchot. Above it stood the golden Keruvim. This picture represents the “Aron” of the Jewish People in our state of exile. At its centre, representing the Luchot, are five young boys learning Torah. We are told that “the world stands on the Torah learning of young children”. Their learning transforms into the “Five Books” of the “Tree of Life” which is the Torah. Their wooden table becomes the golden “crown” which stood atop the Aron and they are sheltered by the Keruvim, which embrace as a sign of love between G-d and the Jewish People.
