Description: This soldier refers to the celebrated photograph of Israeli paratroopers, overcome with emotion; standing at the Western Wall, moments after it was recaptured in 1967. This image is a tribute to the thousands of soldiers who have sacrificed so much, including their lives to protect the Land of Israel. Embraced by the Keruvim which adorned the Aron in the Holy of Holies in the Temple, the soldier is portrayed as the “Holy of Holies” of the Jewish People. His gaze penetrates beyond the wall, into a vision of the Third Temple, which will stand on this very site.
