Title:
Triumphant Return
Size: 70 x 100cm
Medium: Watercolour, charcoal, pastel, ink and acrylic on etching paper
Description: This image refers to the Roman relief on the Arch of Titus, erected to celebrate the conquest of Jerusalem and the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 AD. In the relief, the Jewish People are depicted as slaves carrying the vessels of the Temple from Jerusalem to Rome. Here, the relief is transformed into a celebration of the return of the Jewish People to The Holy Land and the vessels to their home in the third and final Temple.
A vision of the Temple glows in the background and angels transport the holy Aron.
