![]() Title: Sabbath Tree Size: 61 x 76cm Medium: oil on canvas, finger painted Description: The tree is a symbol of the Torah, the “Eitz Chaim”, “a tree of life to those who grasp it.” The resplendent cypress reaches into the heavenly realm and echoes the shape of the flames of the Shabbat candles. Its roots are sustained by the letters of the Aleph Beit, just as a Jewish soul is sustained by words of Torah. Above hover the Sabbath bride and the two Melachim which accompany every Jew back from shul.
